    Great video!!

My it piece for this year was Kelly Green long dress this summer. I came so close to buying it but always dropped it the last minute. Still don’t know if I did the right thing.

You’re right Leony, those fashion stores, You get the ugly disapointment of finding your evil tein in The mall😅

I’ve been collecting Lilysilk for years. Their quality is unbeatable, their colors amazing and their prices are affordable. They will last for years.

  6. Gaelle on November 6, 2022 at 10:14 am

Go to a second hand/ goodwill in a good neighbourhood for the more expensive pieces and use the money you save for good underwear, and those pieces that for your specific size is hard to get second hand.

  7. Karen Rader on November 6, 2022 at 10:16 am

Leonie, I get that putting a pretty color with black looks "off", but what about pairing white/off white/camel with a black garment?

  8. Mary LaFrance on November 6, 2022 at 10:19 am

I bought two lillysilk blouses. Very nice and good quality

  9. Melinda Ferreira on November 6, 2022 at 10:19 am

Yeah.. I dislike slouchy bags.. they actually hurt my hips.. loaded up w stuff bumping against me. Such practical straight forward tips. Appreciate this. If I see everyone wearing something, I will not indulge. I hate looking like everyone else that’s why I thrift..

Hello Leonie! I have to say I find that the quality these days of expensive clothing or designer clothing has gone downhill. It seems like everything is made with viscose, polyester and nylon. Cotton and wool are rare theses days! Lol!

  11. Emily Rose on November 6, 2022 at 10:20 am

I definitely think pairing color with black works so long as the black has a unique or quality texture (like lace or velvet) or if the color is a "pop" with a neutral or monochromatic colored outfit (like shoes or a bag). But I absolutely agree that a matte black with no texture can zap the fun out of color and absorb the outfit. Terrific note!

    Great video 🙌🏻

  13. KLynn Harrison on November 6, 2022 at 10:24 am

Leoni, very good tips! However, as someone who has invested in a few authentic designer handbags, I’ve added a couple of very good replicates to my collection and dare anyone to notice the fake vs real! You’ve got to know what to look for🙏🏾✌🏾

Can you please suggest how to clean white pieces?

  15. Kriszta Jakab on November 6, 2022 at 10:26 am

Hi, can you tell me what was that coating on the glasses? Thank you!

  16. Danielle D on November 6, 2022 at 10:28 am

Check out the Sézane Abélia blouse. It has a busy floral pattern, but somehow it still looks elevated and beautiful. It’s stunning.

Agree with all your points! I might add that a high quality handbag that goes with most of your personal styles is worth its weight in gold. I have been pretty women with good outfits ruined by a cheap, tattered, or not appropriate handbag. I know most people don’t like to change bags with each outfit therefore getting a good versatile one is paramount to looking polished, together, and stylish.

I deliberately avoid buying black now, after just buying exclusively black coz my work uniform was anything black. And I noticed it can be quite heavy and serious so I agree!

  20. ponyblu on November 6, 2022 at 10:32 am

I love the Lillysilk shirts but HATE those breast pockets!

  21. sithabile dlamini on November 6, 2022 at 10:33 am

You absolutely have an eye for style, you so right about the boots 👢, never could put my finger on it but you’ve actually given words to what I was feeling!

  22. Analy S on November 6, 2022 at 10:34 am

Omg designer dupes if they aren’t a shoe like Mach and Mach , the sliders could rock it. Anything else is a hard NO.
Monochrome in less expensive clothes, is your best friend. It could definitely look expensive.
Love the video thank you 🎉

  23. Emily Evans on November 6, 2022 at 10:34 am

Hydrogen peroxide in the wash can go a long way toward keeping whites at their whitest. Also, I wear a lot of black, so about once per season I prepare black dye and dye all my black pieces. (NOTE: I have not had good luck dying black jeans. . . )

  24. Trish Hickson on November 6, 2022 at 10:37 am

I seem to be the only person who is concerned about the cruelty aspect of silk. I’ve read that silkworms are boiled alive in the production of it. If anyone can tell me that is wrong I’d be very happy. In the meantime I’m avoiding it. Not everyone will care about the silkworms, but I hate the thought of anything suffering. Of course wool is probably not always ethically produced either, and it’s all pretty complicated. 🤷‍♀️. I certainly hate polyester and synthetic fabrics too. It’s not easy to be kind!

  25. Aga M on November 6, 2022 at 10:37 am

I love the look of structured bags, but my back doesn’t like the weight of them:(

  26. Dana Matsukawa on November 6, 2022 at 10:42 am

Thanks for the video Leonie. Lots of great ideas. The comments about cleaning one’s glasses resonate with me. I am very conscious of retaining the vision I have left. This requires me to change between my prescription glasses quite a bit. I was wondering if you knew of a good product I could keep in my car for when I am out and my glasses need a cleaning? Thanks!

  27. jacqueline schael on November 6, 2022 at 10:42 am

Black + polyester = Oh boy.
And Zara, Mango, H&M and other fast track fashion companies are bad news all around for the environment and sweatshop workers.
(Which is the piece of this season, by the way?).
    Great tips as usual!

  28. dagnolia on November 6, 2022 at 10:43 am

    how to steam ?

  29. Simone Elli on November 6, 2022 at 10:44 am

If someone is wearing a cheap outfit and is adding a dupe, that makes it looking even more cheap. Why dont they see that?

  30. Belinda Crisp on November 6, 2022 at 10:46 am

I have a steamer now too. I bought an oven mitt to hold the clothing so I don’t burn myself, as I am pretty useless. 😀

  31. Jamie Goffena on November 6, 2022 at 10:48 am

Thanks for the tips. I also had glasses that have a coating that can’t be cleaned off. What was the coating that caused that? I want to avoid it when I get new glasses.

I love lily silk I own at least five or six pieces. I really wanted the pajamas so I bought them in navy blue with the white piping so beautiful. I gave them to my husband and said this is my birthday present so here you go. My birthday is in December just before Christmas so he’ll give them to me then. I’d love to wear them now but I wanted to make it easy for him. Can’t wait to put them on.

  34. Bíborka Székely on November 6, 2022 at 10:49 am

I hate the expression “update” in terms of physical objects. It makes the fact that you actually throw it out and buy another one instead lose its significance. If we update our apps we don’t put extra strain on the environment, we don’t create waste, but any other “update” is just a nice way of saying “throw it out”, “buy a new one”. Obviously it sounds better and makes you feel less guilty but I think feeling too little guilt about our consumer patterns is one of the main reasons we have environmental problems. Leonie, I know you talk about our fashion choices being more conscious but some of these expressions still convey that fast fashion disposability of garments that put such a strain on our environment.

Kia ora – LYW! What was that little gadget you were using to look after your pink knit?

  36. Joe Di on November 6, 2022 at 10:54 am

love this video, I am a big fan of cashmere and 100% wool. And one should really make time to care for them.

  37. Paula Parham on November 6, 2022 at 10:55 am

I always love and enjoy ❤

  38. Anne Wiseman on November 6, 2022 at 10:57 am

Great video Leonie! Hmm I still think black can be worn with colour. I ve gone both ways ie with black or not but I still think the colours can work with black. For eg. A black midi handkerchief hem dress with small white stars pattern with a dusk pink moto jacket. Totally agree with your colour limit to 2 with a neutral.

Would love your recommendation(s) on a worthy hand-held steamer. I have the huge floor model standing proudly in my master bath, primarily because when I bought it a few years ago, none of the portable steamers were very efficient. Can you help me change that?

  40. Sharon Farnsworth on November 6, 2022 at 10:58 am

Another good video. Thanks!! I am glad you advised everyone that better clothes take more maintenance! Also I have found to wash dark clothes inside out helps as well as dark wash laundry 🧺 detergent & only put in a dryer literally few minutes as dryers will face darks. I pull all seams straight when I take out of washer & it really helps with wrinkles.

  41. Denise Oates on November 6, 2022 at 11:01 am

Very excited to see you loaded a video today. I really like when I come across a button up shirt with 2 breast pockets while I am thrifting. I really like your shirt. You are so right about having some good quality garments and accessories but the problem with that those usually come with price tag out of some people budget. I have lucked out on finding what I consider forever items during some of my thrift trips and will purchase these because they are going to be a major ingredient in styling for me. Well, looks like you are in good company with Lily Silk clientele. My bra’s are pretty pricey so I guess I better check and make sure they still doing the job. I mixed print my first pattern outfit for Sunday and I really enjoyed it, it was the working of the subtle dots on a brown blazer with a plaided pair of pants. We need to really work on the upkeep of items we purchased, because I recall watching men and women in my life polish, mend, repair to prolong their usage. I do have some fakes because I like how they looked, and they were at the thrift store. I thrifted a belt with the interesting buckle, and it ended up being a Hermes dupe and I also got a LV bag one time while thrifting because it was only $9 (I like the style of it). There was a time back in the day selling of dups were really popular and the people would show up at hairdresser shops or in a parking lot (piss over here let me show you something). LOL! I am so guilty on the dirty smudge lens wearer because it seems for some reason soon as I wipe them, they get smudge again (my boyfriend gets so frustrated; he keeps wipes in his car). I now invested in buying wipes packs in bulk at my nearest Sam’s club. Dark clothing is easier as far as basics because I hang basic garments to dry and don’t want them in the dryer and therefore look fresh, but those white items I don’t know what to do because under the same care they still get dingy (I still wear them). Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.

Love your comments, examples and advice. A cheap watch and accessories can really hurt your look also.

  43. Gaelle on November 6, 2022 at 11:03 am

To get a pulled together colourful look get something colourful in a pattern and pick up one or two colours from that in the rest you are wearing or make one of those stripes, polkadots, checkered, or perhaps even a leopard. This however needs better quality so goodwill is your best friend or if you buy some pieces fast fashion avoid extra ruffles, look at the buttons if there are any and if you think you are going to change the buttons will you really?

  44. Cat Lady on November 6, 2022 at 11:03 am

Thank you, some good tips. I have just ordered the bra extender, I never thought of that and my bras have got a little tight as I have put on a bit of weight, so they will be really useful until the weight comes off again 😁

  45. Sharon Farnsworth on November 6, 2022 at 11:05 am

Wearing winter white instead of black is a nice look!

  46. 44andlovinit on November 6, 2022 at 11:06 am

I’d love to invest in some high quality core items but as I’ve got older I’m finding I don’t know my colours anymore. It’s really frustrating!!

  47. C P on November 6, 2022 at 11:07 am

I agree 100% about wearing the wrong bra and the same goes for your underpants. The most expensive outfit will totally look crappy if your undergarments are not right. When I was in the fashion industry that was always my piece of advice to women invest in various styles of bras and underpants so your outfit looks seamlessly smooth.
That’s a great tip Leonie pair expensive with cheaper pieces it always works.
Great video lots of fabulous tips and ideas 🙂

  48. rewa 🧸 on November 6, 2022 at 11:07 am

I agree so much with the „it item“ – here in Germany it’s the typical beige and black striped knit sweater 😭😂 I was so excited to get mine from & other stories – it looks so well made and it feels so high quality. But now I barely wear it because EVERY girl has the same striped sweater 🥲

  49. Candyce623 on November 6, 2022 at 11:08 am

I have to admit I’m a Texan gal myself, whom loves big shopper slouchy bags. And I’m not alone. Here in my town the bigger the bag the smaller you look 😂 I just last week found the new gigantic black quilted YSL ICARE QUEEN OF THE SOUTH bag
