I discovered that I didn’t hate ironing, per se, I just hated the overheating I experienced while doing it. (The room where I iron never really gets cool because all of the heat-producing utilities are there). I made a “laundry room” out of the end of my garage where the machines are, so I can leave my ironing board up, have my full-sized steamer and drying racks out, shoe maintenance stuff, etc. I also put a clothesline across the room because I don’t machine-dry clothes, but air-dry most on hangers, or on the racks. So, now I dress lightly, put my hair in a clip or high ponytail, and turn on a fan to keep myself cool. I also have a window AC I can turn on in summer and I bring a bottle of iced water. I discovered that I find ironing, and all clothes maintenance, really relaxing now. Sometimes I put on a playlist, mostly I just zen out. Having everything for wardrobe maintenance in one place helps me get it done, I just leave things there until I can get to them. I never put anything that needs work, even if it’s just airing or brushing, back into my closet. It’s such a great feeling to have everything 100% ready to wear and it simplifies my life so much.

Jess, This is one of your best videos!! The content is so helpful….🎉❤

  3. Heather Cosh on October 17, 2022 at 8:16 pm

I love the monochromatic looks here (dark green; navy) as well as how you paired them with other neutrals (caramel; tan) – so timeless yet totally in vogue right now! I hear you on the body areas of focus as we age and….I like ironing too, lol!! Have a great week.

  4. seriouslyinsanediva on October 17, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Hi Jess, I couldn’t agree more that "quality versus quantity wins every time" !
I have suits from the 90,’s and the 2000’s and they still fit and look great even though I don’t wear them often. These things get minor alterations depending on trends like trouser length or waist fit.
Overall the cost per wear is fantastic if you keep them "forever"
Your outfits, as usual are great choices, I love the way you knot that cardigan at the waist. It’s so casual chic.

  5. A 7108 on October 17, 2022 at 8:19 pm

OMG, I love the Sezane camel Gaspard jumper with those dark green trousers. Have you seen the new floral Tianna blouse in the same colour from them? I thought of it after seeing this combo together which would also look lovely on you with your warm skin 😉

  6. Kimberly Perrotis on October 17, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Quality over quantity, definitely yes! Fabric is really important to me, if something is itchy, rough, or hot and sweaty, I just won’t wear it, so it’s not a bargain.

  7. Greengirl68 on October 17, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Love your low messy bun. Please show us how you do it!

  8. Diane Cyment on October 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm

Confidence is key, as you stated. Your style tips are always so helpful. Especially helpful were the tips on the length of hems on trousers. I just received a pair of grey trousers and they are quite long. I want to wear them with both flats and low-heel ankle boots. I will need to take them to a tailor as I do not have your skills of hemming pants. Are you styling navy trousers with your Chanel-like two-tone flats? It works! As always, I truly enjoyed this video.

  9. Devin L on October 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm

In my 20’s I loved super short skirts. I’m 40 now, and I don’t even own a skirt. Maxi dresses and thin pants to cover my legs.

  10. MsOrchidBouquet on October 17, 2022 at 8:25 pm

What great tips! I wish we had cooler weather to wear my knits but we currently have freakishly hot (up to 28C) weather here in Spain!

  11. Roberta Leevers on October 17, 2022 at 8:27 pm

Love your videos and your style is lovely and effortless as well. Funny I iron all my clothes and I really enjoy that too.

I used to think my bum was just enormous. Now I quite love my bum but cannot stand my “lower belly” since having a child.

  18. Bernita Jenkins on October 17, 2022 at 8:31 pm

I’m 61, and have worked in fashion retail for many years, and have a passion for fashion. I can tell you…Jess has the BEST content I’ve seen online.
A tip I will share, concerning cashmere…store rolled up in the freezer… I kid you not. Google it 🤔🇦🇺🤯😲

  19. adriana kovacova on October 17, 2022 at 8:32 pm

Hi Jess, this video is amazing! My fav look is how you layered the cardi and coat over the tank- divine transformation! Is your coat the actual weekday that you linked down below? I am like you quite tall and look for a coat that ends at my lower calf rather than just below knee! X

  20. fire blade on October 17, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Such great style tips , something for everyone ! I especially will use the tip for a v- neck , you described as an arrow shape , i am petite , slim hipped with larger bust and you are so right the v shape is much more flattering and balances my shape , what a difference ! I love cashmere , and being on a pretty tight budget i look for good quality cashmere in my local charity shops and i have to say ive been very lucky ! Which will let me save for that Lux coat i wud love . 🌼

  21. Kimberly Perrotis on October 17, 2022 at 8:34 pm

I am naturally busty, and the things I avoid are high-neck tops, unless worn under a V-neck jacket, especially long tops with high necks. I don’t think those long, chunky, baggy sweaters don’t flatter anyone, they completely obscure the female shape, creating a blocky brick shape instead. If you must wear them, tuck in the front, at least. I’m not suggesting a super-tight knit, either, just one that is shorter and follows the line of the body.

  22. None Business on October 17, 2022 at 8:36 pm

i think a chunky chelsea boot, has been staying in style ha for those of us that cant walk in heels! I loved that grey coat in the beginning!! that will always be in style

  23. Lidija Živanović on October 17, 2022 at 8:36 pm

Really love the look with light colour jeans and white jumper 😍. So stylish and modern 😎

  30. J. Lach on October 17, 2022 at 8:41 pm

Dear Jess! This video is so so helpful! Especially the how not to/how to- part and the tips on what kind of clothing is classic. Please show us more of that! I always hear people telling me to invest in classic pieces – well yeah, but what are those? I love your style and find a lot of inspiration in your videos since I find myself in a transition phase in my life. You mentioned that you have even more ideas which would make the video too lengthy- please do! I’m sure everyone here would appreciate it very much!

  31. Shirley Anderson on October 17, 2022 at 8:41 pm

Todo se te ve muy bonito y la ropa esta muy Chic.

  36. Fit Nic Studio on October 17, 2022 at 8:51 pm

Sit ups do not give you a flat tum, not great for your back and we as women are not supposed to have flat stomachs. I really enjoy your channel – let’s embrace our bodies & stop striving for a ‘body type’ , you cannot ‘spot reduce’ any area regardless of all the click bait out there.

  37. closetfullofbargains on October 17, 2022 at 8:51 pm

The green trousers don’t hang nicely in the crotch area, it folds weird

  38. TheDebster44 on October 17, 2022 at 8:52 pm

    Great tips again! ❤😊

  39. Melda Sharif on October 17, 2022 at 8:52 pm

So glad I’m not the only one who’s loves ironing 😂

  40. Susan Schreyer on October 17, 2022 at 8:56 pm

Great tips! Thank you– I’d have loved a 30 minute video. I will definitely watch a second (or third!) time! About one’s body changing as one gets older … oh, definitely! Having settled into my 70s, I am aware everyday that aging is a gift. That said, being well dressed and stylish is still important to me. I have discovered that it is possible to control one’s weight (by being far more careful about what I eat than when I was young), and regular exercise is vital to maintain health. I love that beautiful clothes have the ability to give a lift to one’s spirits, motivate one to keep moving, and eat healthy!

  41. Jo Rooke on October 17, 2022 at 8:58 pm

Hi Jess, hope all is well with you. Oh goodness yes your body changes loads as you get older. I never thought it would happen to me, as someone who was always trying to put weight on when I was young, I’m now aching for those washboard stomach days 😖. You however have nothing to worry about. Another great video x

  48. Naomi Fenton on October 17, 2022 at 9:12 pm

I love all your styling tips and you are so right when you talk about fashion trends that come and go
I myself think classic styling is the best never goes out of date
And yes sometimes changing the buttons can make a difference to an article of clothing
I have to say buying good quality really pays of
Have had some everyday jumpers from H&M and after a few months they look worn
Have some from Massimo Dutti and far superior
Look forward to your next haul ❤

The all navy outfit has to be my favourite! I am coveting the Sezane coat, but need to save up for an item like that. That is one of my new resolutions, save for what I want and not to make hasty purchases. Thanks as always for sharing your advice and styling tips.
