I love traditional homes, versus open plans. As long as the rooms are not as tight and narrow as they used to be. I am not a blue/ green person but sage is one of those colors, on trend or not, that is so relaxing. Glad to see the end of the cold greys. Great video!

Nothing looks more dated than what was "trendy" a few years ago. Never follow trends.

i’m an architectural designer and the closed off living space is so far from true when it comes to living room and kitchens. no one wants their living room in a completely separate room

  15. Anna T on October 17, 2022 at 8:26 pm

I like everything you talked about except the dark green , it reminds me of the hunter green of the 90s. However, the light misty green is pretty.

Get “smart” devices out of your homes! They are just spying and data collection devices. They can turn off your t-stat If you use too much electricity. EMF overload.

  20. kaunas888 on October 17, 2022 at 8:35 pm

That Sage Green color looks terrible. I think that that trend is not going to last long.

  21. Smart Home on October 17, 2022 at 8:36 pm

i love that traditional style is coming back. I don’t think it actually ever goes out of style but glad it’ll be more on trend now. 😍

I really enjoy watching your design tips. I have definitely used many of your ideas! I am trying to incorporate from traditional to transitional look. I did add some distressed white furniture in the kitchen hope that will still go with my existing walnut furniture that I can not replace….

I don’t like the color green. So I put them up in faux and real plants

  30. Doreen Lane on October 17, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Trends causes things to look outdated. I like things that are timeless. Trends are what other people like. What really matters is what you like if you’re the one who lives in it.

The color of the decade is green and every year A variation of green will be en vogue. We saw at the beginning of this a few years back now when varying degrees of green cabinets in kitchens again trending. Now we are seeing the design shows using green bathroom tiles, bedroom walls, furniture of every room, and vehicles. Colour of the decade.

  37. Natalie Meenakshi The Great on October 17, 2022 at 8:58 pm

I love what you’re saying but can you slow down a bit? You’re racing through everything.
Thank you for the advice and ideas – you’re clearly very talented.

  39. MaryAnn Solis on October 17, 2022 at 9:01 pm

What if your walls have that almost popcorn feel like a ceiling? The home was built in or about 2000 , so they have that texture. All over the house! Can they still be painted successfully? With what type of paint?

  40. Andrea on October 17, 2022 at 9:04 pm

If traditional is returning, which I do love, will leaded glass windows feel old and stuffy or work well? We need updated ways to cover windows looking directly at our neighbors without losing light.

  46. Sheida Shannon on October 17, 2022 at 9:11 pm

I’ve never liked open concept homes because people enjoy having their own spaces and get aways. It always felt like a lazy design and I was so surprised people wanted to knock down walls to keep on trend. I bet a lot of them are now regretting it.

  47. BabyVlad on October 17, 2022 at 9:11 pm

Hello, when moving into a home, is there a way to ensure there are no hidden cameras? Thank you!

  48. Brad C on October 17, 2022 at 9:12 pm

Today’s trends are tomorrow’s "dated home".

  49. Lynn Jimenez on October 17, 2022 at 9:13 pm

I’ve never liked open floor plans, so it’s nice to finally be ‘on trend’!
