I’m stopping before you say #1 and I’m going to say I assume it’s colourpop. My daughters are 21&23 and we just talked about this. That everyone they know has colourpop makeup.

  2. Kim Adams on October 17, 2022 at 8:17 pm

Theres a brand at Dollar General store called Believe Beauty i bought 2 eyeshadow gel type pots and they are amazing…I also bought a new blush that was like a blush blush topper duo and omg its beautiful…i have deeper skin and its hard for some blushes to really show up and it was good….my fav drugstore blush is the covergirl i think it used to be the cheekers and they made them round and bigger and more pigmented…i still have a old cheekers blush with the little brush..haha

Hi Jen, I just saw an amazing Mental Health/ Maybelline advert directed at teens, here in South Africa. The teens in the advert had American accents so I assume it wasn’t a South African production although the SA Depression and Anxiety Group was shown the end. It was really good.

  4. Cathy Gordon on October 17, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Hey Jen! A boomer here! You are still so relevant to a wide range of ages, even this old broad tunes in! Just wondering if you’ve come up with a Halloween costume for your pal Jabberwocky? All the great inanimate sidekicks have had them!

This was interesting. I enjoyed this video. Thank you

  6. Rachel Elwin on October 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm

Sephora best skin ever foundation is lovely

  7. Kristen Trep on October 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm

I was thinking the younger makeup wearers are able to pick up the makeup they want in a local drugstore, Walmart and target. Kids aren’t typically walking into their neighborhood Ulta until they can drive.

  8. LIsa on October 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm

This jives with what I hear from my gen Z nieces. They love CeraVe, Charlotte tilbury, anything Sephora…And no, my nieces are not on YouTube. Makes me feel so old! I hate short form content so much, I can’t do TikTok.

  9. Luv Hums on October 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm

Not suprised that colorpop not in top tier as teenagers don’t usually have credit cards to order on line–so target, walmart and drug store easier to access for teens.

  10. Natalie Cope on October 17, 2022 at 8:25 pm

I’m not surprised at all by Maybelline. My guess was either them or L’Oréal. They’re both really accessible. They’re in every drugstore, walmart, target and more. You can pick up an item or two at your weekly grocery run and skip shipping fees. Also they sell in every category, you can buy a whole face from either. Maybelline and L’Oréal also advertise heavily on tiktok. Finally both companies make excellent quality makeup and they push new products quickly to meet trends (lipglosses, skin tints…). I think certain foundations are better than ones I’ve bought from Sephora.

As someone who is Gen. X I am very interested in the whole Revlon situation. I have used their products for 35-40 years. Their Iced Mocha lipstick has been my everyday lipstick for at least 35 years!!!💖💖💖

  12. Rachel Elwin on October 17, 2022 at 8:28 pm

L’Oréal make beautiful accessible foundations and mascaras.

  13. Kathleen EM on October 17, 2022 at 8:29 pm

The only thing I ever bought from Morphe were two eyeshadow brushes. I didn’t expect a lot but was shocked at how rough they were on my eyes. They went right back. I have a high end brush collection but bought a few Elf brushes once and even they were far superior to Morphe. I am aware of the Morphe drama a few years ago with certain influencers so I steer clear of all other products.

  14. LisaG45 on October 17, 2022 at 8:30 pm

The only reason I can think of Colourpop not being in the countdown is because they are mostly an online order brand. You can find their items in Ulta, but only a small percentage of them. All the brands that were mentioned in the countdown can be found in brick and mortar stores (Target, Wal-Mart, drug stores like Walgreens, Ulta, Sephora, etc) where you can buy things with cash, where most ColourPop items need to be bought online with a debit/credit card/paypal.

  15. Rachel Elwin on October 17, 2022 at 8:31 pm

Revlon not on Tik Tok or Insta

  16. Rachel Elwin on October 17, 2022 at 8:32 pm

    Tarte shade range is shit

  17. MM T on October 17, 2022 at 8:34 pm

If you’re referring to "The Greatest Love of All" in the description box, that was Whitney, not Michael.

  18. Jennifer Ford on October 17, 2022 at 8:35 pm

Ulta brand does have really nice cream eyeshadow.

  19. Jennifer McQuilkin on October 17, 2022 at 8:39 pm

I think Tarte and CT are “safe” colors for parents no grandparents to buy for young girls just getting in makeup

  20. kellykpb on October 17, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Charlotte Tilbury = mom bought the wrong shade or mom used it, moved on, and castoff went to kid.

  21. Bonnie F on October 17, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Elf is made in China, sure it’s their fav…..Fenty is great as is Color Pop.

  22. Barb Robbins on October 17, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Maybelline and L’Oréal have models that teens know and look up to, whereas Colourpop does not.

  23. Rachel Elwin on October 17, 2022 at 8:42 pm

But Cerave is cheap and really good and their sal acid cleanser is great for acne prone skin! Hooray for a brand that actually has decent ingredients

  24. Shans on October 17, 2022 at 8:42 pm

I think accessibility is why Colourpop isn’t in the top 10. They are only at Ulta, and it’s a limited amount at that. And their shipping is expensive and takes forever.

  25. SP Rose on October 17, 2022 at 8:43 pm

Shape tape saved Tarte. They were on their way out at one point.

  26. Karen K on October 17, 2022 at 8:44 pm

If I wasn’t obsessed with makeup and only had access to drugstore makeup …I would be perfectly happy with using brands like Maybelline, Covergirl and L’Oréal. They all make terrific foundations, mascaras, lipsticks and lip glosses.

  27. DanceSing_Liv on October 17, 2022 at 8:45 pm

    Maybelline mascara is great too

  28. Hillary McLean on October 17, 2022 at 8:47 pm

I wonder if ColourPop doesn’t market enough to Gen Z?

  29. Micah Sellers on October 17, 2022 at 8:47 pm

Maybeline makes sense bc they have been around for a while and most of their products are pretty good they come out with good mascaras, lipstick, foundation, powder, concealer.

  30. Rachel Elwin on October 17, 2022 at 8:47 pm

Try living in Australia! No CP, none of half the brands that get mentioned on YT

  31. Rabbi Roz on October 17, 2022 at 8:48 pm

I think I saw a report that Colourpop is the #1 makeup brand in the world – top in sales . . . . Probably just skews older than Gen Z. The thing with Morphe is that you get ALOT of shadows for your money, which may appeal to younger people – lots of colors and variety in one palette; I haven’t bought a Morphe palette in years because of the quality, but for a younger person the quality may be less of an issue.

  32. MARLB BORO on October 17, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Maybelline definitely. Not surprised. Their eye products is baam in your face any shop you walk into and then you start browsing their shelf.. L’Oréal and not Wet n Wild, how interesting. must be a accessibility thing. WnW shelves are always bare. But even now as an old lady myself I still feel L’Oréal is a bit old lady 😂 in the drugstore. Their hair colour and mascara is where it is for me.

  33. MARLB BORO on October 17, 2022 at 8:51 pm

    What a horrid mom.🤬

  34. Chelsea on October 17, 2022 at 8:52 pm

I work at Sephora, the amount of teens that come in to buy Charlotte tilbury is crazy!

  35. Alicia Michelle on October 17, 2022 at 8:53 pm

Maybelline I also understand. When I was a teenager, without $ and before I was consuming makeup content online, it’s what filled my makeup bag!

  36. stampinprn on October 17, 2022 at 8:53 pm

    Dermatologists recommend cerve

  37. Chrelaine L on October 17, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Colourpop isn’t widely available and most teens aren’t able to buy online with credit cards.

  38. Rachel Elwin on October 17, 2022 at 8:57 pm

Maybelline mascara sky High number one in the world sales wise. Tik Tok viral. The HA lip lifter gloss is 🔥. FitMe foundation is excellent

  39. Mixxy Girl on October 17, 2022 at 8:58 pm

I love the googly eyes. Lol

  40. Abigail Rademacher on October 17, 2022 at 8:59 pm

Older Gen Z here!! 🎉 21 and having fun watching YouTube

  41. According to Jexi on October 17, 2022 at 9:01 pm

When I was in high school I had no idea stores like Ulta or Sephora even existed. All my makeup money was spent at stores like the supermarket or Walmart. It was until beauty YouTubers years ago that I learned about these other brands

  42. Alexandrrra on October 17, 2022 at 9:01 pm

Maybelline was my #1 when I was a teen. Great foundations, still the best mascaras out there, and master ink liquid liner is my all time fave. Even the eyeshadows are super good quality.

  43. Kim Adams on October 17, 2022 at 9:02 pm

In my neighborhood i live in KY and u walk in a drugstore or walmart and Maybeline L’Oreal are everywhere even end caps then elf….I looked for Milani the other day and they had the smallest section…Elf was empty but Elf had a ton of skincare….I love the elf skincare…And with Maybeline the Fit Me line is everywhere and the lifter floss then they came out with that new 30hr wear concealer and i love that. Great stream Im here on the replay 💙💜🎃👻💀

  44. Trenda Knight on October 17, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Ad someone who doesn’t have a sephora or ulta anywhere near me and wasn’t on social media until last year I had never heard of colorpop until I found makeup YouTube and TikTok. I’ve still never tried it but I’d dye for the stone cold fox pallette. 🥰

  45. Sharon Cerretani on October 17, 2022 at 9:06 pm

You should write to the articles writer and ask them about colour pop

  46. DAKOTA SAYS on October 17, 2022 at 9:07 pm

Maybelline made the VIRAL mascara “Sky High”…. Maybe that’s why lol 😊

  47. Jen_Z on October 17, 2022 at 9:08 pm

I worked at an Estée Lauder counter several years ago. One of my most frequent customers was a high school girl. She worked part-time and her treat to herself was to make appointments with me, get her makeup done, and put her products in Ziploc bags along w/ the face chart that went with them. I never pressured her to buy anything, she just liked coming in and hanging out.

  48. Rachel T on October 17, 2022 at 9:09 pm

$30-50 for videos games. I wish! We usually are having to pay $60-70 for the latest thing these days. Guess it does match the CT prices.

  49. MARLB BORO on October 17, 2022 at 9:09 pm

Ever since Angie from hot and flashy spoke highly about cerave I have slowly over the years transitioned to almost everything Cerave .
