Some say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But it could be argued that beauty is in the eye of the decade. For the 2000s, this couldn’t be more true. It should be called the “Sparkle and Shimmer” generation. Everyone was covered in hair accessories, bedazzled outfits, and body glitter. All anyone seemed to care about at the turn of the century was how much light they could catch.

From the over-plucked eyebrows, to the frosted eyeshadow, it seems like everyone’s eyes took a major fashion hit in the 2000s. It seems as if an alien came down from space to do everyone’s makeup. Another interesting beauty trend was the platinum blonde hair with jet black contrast underneath. Celebrities were crimping their hair, lining their lips with liner that was 5 shades darker than their lipstick, and they had so many hair accessories. Like, way too many hair accessories. Everyone had a belly button piercing or a rhinestone tattoo. Britney Spears showed off her belly button piercing with pride. Christina Aguilera proudly displayed her multi-toned hair. And everyone sparkled. It was a different time when people believed Y2K was going to destroy humanity. But while some prepped for doomsday, others bedazzled everything. They straightened or crimped their hair, and they danced to “Hit Me Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears and “Mean Girls” with Lindsay Lohan was a huge box office movie, and the glitter was plenty. But some of these nostalgic beauty trends should be left where they started. Here are 15 beauty trends that should stay in the 2000s.

FYI : I *still* follow the pencil thin brows, body glitter, glitter lipgloss, belly piercing, iron straight hair, crop tops and jeans of that nostalgic era 🤷🏻‍♀️

Almost NOTHING about 00s fashion is "cringe". Many of the stuff that started coming in after 2010 is … CRINGE, specially those icky caterpillar brows ☹

Fashion doesn’t need to be "perfect",
it needs to be true 👑

  6. Honey on October 28, 2022 at 7:45 am

Well uhhh… sincerely, i know some of these are cringe, but some or them aren’t that bad, also, you talk like everyone should follow some kind of "fashion rules"

and the next generation will make videos on our extremely contoured, highlighted and plastic filler faces 😶. no words.
every new coming generation makes fun of elder ones

I don’t think these trends aren’t less cringe than a lot of today’s trends. It just seems that way because trends come and go. One day we will look back on super thick brows and cringe too. Mum jeans are trendy today and I don’t get. If you choose classic looks you can’t go wrong -natural makeup and an LBD will never go out of style. But then again that would be boring. So to each their own

  13. Lilyy♡ on October 28, 2022 at 7:55 am

Nahh these weren’t bad at all tbh

  14. polly molly on October 28, 2022 at 7:57 am

    why cringe?? no

I actually really like the "overplucked" eyebrows trend from the 90’s/early 2000’s! Super cute 😍 I can’t be the only millennial who wants to see it make a comeback!

I think the notion that overplucking your eyebrows will damage them and they won’t grow back is a myth. I have Trichotillomania, and it was severe between ages 6-20. During those 14 years, I had no eyelashes and very thin patchy eyebrows. I spent hours per day digging/picking at stubble and sometimes had scabs because of it. At age 20 the compulsion suddenly lessened and within a couple months, my eyelashes were grown in and full. That was 11 years ago, and my eyelashes have been full and long, and my brows grow just like anyone else’s(have to regularly pluck them). I occasionally pull out some eyelashes, thinning them out, and they grow back in over the course of 2-3 weeks. Several years ago I decided to grow my brows thicker and was able to do so in a normal span of time. If mine can grow back, I think anyone’s can too!

Now in 2022 … it’s like everyone is a carbon copy of one another

  25. Emy Littledoll on October 28, 2022 at 8:12 am

  26. ezgi b on October 28, 2022 at 8:12 am

  28. Lane Atkinson on October 28, 2022 at 8:13 am

I think 00s style was some of the worst in recent history 😅 It’s like EVERYONE had the fashion sense of a middle schooler.

  32. Celestial 🛸 on October 28, 2022 at 8:16 am

but some indian actresses are a fan of body glitter. they dip themselves into the glitters nowadays in 2022

  33. Ha Nguyen on October 28, 2022 at 8:16 am

The one thing i REALLY love about the 2000s trends is the bling and glitter. Who cares if its 2022, i will still wear glitter and bling

  34. Sarah Lennox on October 28, 2022 at 8:16 am

We used to wear low rise jeans with rhinestone decals all over them 🤣 boot cut, flare jeans, low rise, we had chain belts with lace, butterflies, glitter, glitter, rhinestones lol. We had lipsmackers (I had the entire collection) stick body glitter in frosted blue, blue lipsticks (frost, of course), the chalkiest eyeshadows.

brb gonna do all those things

  41. Victoria Sullivan on October 28, 2022 at 8:21 am

eyebrows depend on your face shape, and i hate when they trend. the super thick and defined trend during the early 2010s that i fell into made me look AWFUL – my face already has a strong and defined structure, so it was an awful combo.
this video is dated, and i love all of the other trends (except for fake tan, it can be cute within reason though)

  42. Alisha Montgomery on October 28, 2022 at 8:27 am

I still prefer skinny brows, I do not look right with wooly worm eyebrows!!

  43. BrittanyMW ancient light on October 28, 2022 at 8:28 am
