You can have your curtains which I find very funeral parlour look🤭😜😜,,!,, give me verticals every time👍👍👍👍
Cant stand v blinds either. Lol
In a few years you’re going to see "shiplap removal" signs just like "popcorn ceiling removal" signs.
Love your show but please stop the horrible popping sounds in videos! So distracting and cringy. :/
I was about to sponge paint my bedroom wall!🤦🏾♀️ Not anymore
Well in my opinion, its only outdated if you don’t care for it anymore. I’ve always (my entire life) loved the vintage style walls.. I don’t take this video to heart too much.. although you do have some great alternative ideas.. ty for your input though 🙂 And who are you anyways? Never heard of you.. do tell tyia 🙂
I loved the Tuscan interior design it looks so expensive and I love the dark colors
I disagree. When done right, glass blocks are undoubtably beautiful. It’s just something that trendy hipsters just cant seem to appreciate.🤦♂️
I love Earth Tone colors I hate bright white walls and bright pastel white bright colors in a house it reminds me of the 80s. I love like brownies goldish metallic pan looking walls with bright white trim and black leather sofa black leather recliner zebra skin rug hardwood floors or black granite floors or dark colored tile floors as well as African slate coffee table palm trees in the corner tropical plants maybe a few exotic animal photos on the wall like tigers or zebras Etc and dark dark dark cabinets with maybe a red accent wall in the kitchen behind the cabinets and stove and black granite countertops and stainless steel appliances Etc. That’s my flavor more of a 2005 type interior
Yes, I always felt like the rae dunn stuff was so unnecessary.
I don’t agree about shiplap. A touch of wood gives a wonderful warm organic feel to a space. If you have already in a midcentury home try lighting it so it’s not so heavy. It’s a far better material then drywall.
Lots of great tips, and one tiny point to add… if a client loves and is dedicated to a certain time period in their home (mid-century modern comes to mind) a few of these items can become a classic. Always important to take in the full story of the home and family to. be sure we are choosing for our life and not someone else’s fantasy; which can lead to wasting money and resources on constant do-overs. We sold a mid-century classic a few years ago, removed the vertical blinds and the new owners absolutely wanted and loved vertical blinds. So all rules always "depend" on the humans in the situation.
Interior designers are a joke!
Trends are a bigger joke…….
Why am I going to design “my” home based on what someone says is in style!!!
disagree with paneling. if it comes back it means it works.
Tile countertops were high end luxury kitchens in the 1950’s. So if you are going mid century then this fits. Which is hilarious considering they started getting bashed on from the late 70s on.
Completely disagree – I adore wooden panels and tuscan-themed kitchens with dark, rich reds and browns and I always will even in 2022 and beyond! Call me outdated but I would not take away or replace any of that richness with white; that would be what I call "basic"! Also something as traditional as a japanese futon is an "eyesore"? Yikes…
or, ignore everything anyone says. being outdated does not matter at all, design your home how you like it
Your video proves a point that people like whatever is marketed to them. Now it’s rust rust rust. And in a few years we will say color not good do something else.
I hate bright colors and white interior it makes me want to puke. And it looks cheap it looks like a country cottage look from the 80s. I love the dark Italian Tuscany look. But I’m a guy
I had forgot about the glassblocks 😄
Luckily I never considered word art because I don’t take bad decorating advice from homophobes.
How about word art that says,
"Jesus loves you" because its true!!
Gonna have to disagree with the glass blocks, those were a huge stylistic element of streamlined art deco which was and is one of the most iconic and beautiful American design movements even today. Shouldn’t be removed anymore than victorian houses should be bulldozed. There’s millions of buildings in the US that would look really dumb if they were removed.
The vertical blinds are in Doctor’s offices here in Germany 😀
Please take that annoying sound out of your videos every time a picture pops up. It’s distracting and not good for earphone users.
I personally love my word art. My home is my haven, not a museum. I want it to feel very homey and welcoming. Disagree on that one.
Word art 😂😂😂 exactly…. Absolutely cheap looking …when I see the inscription "kitchen" in the kitchen tak come on, without it I would probably not think that I am in the bedroom
My only word art is a gift from fave auntie: ‘so it’s not home sweet home-adjust’ written by her on piece of old slate. Her version of inspiration, encouragement during a rough patch 😅 Any blinds are awful, I love changing out drapes, curtains depending on what I bring in or move around.
I’m literally DYING to design my future home with glass blocks!
Here’s me. A glass block stan. It will never die for me.
I have ptsd from tuscan kitchens
I like glass blocks in certain applications.
Cabin decor should go
I say do what YOU like…. That never goes out of style. I’ve never followed a trend.
What drives me crazy is wanting to sit on the sofa, but there are 3 perfectly placed pillows where I want to sit. Should I move them to the other end to hog the entire sofa?
Uhh no thanks
Liked this video but just one clarification: wallpaper border removal is NOT easy. Sometimes it’s just easier to sand it as smoothly as possible and paint over it. Thanks, Lindsay!
Imo board and batten is going to be up there with shiplap and 70s wood paneling. Some wainscoting in certain applications is the only thing that seems timeless to me.
Since everyone got their hands on cricut or the Silhouette those farmhouse signs are everywhere But to each their own but I rather have pennywise as my art decor it did take me 3 weeks to finish but it ain’t farmhouse 🎈😂😂
Happy Sunday! Do you have any of these outdated home decor trends hiding in your new home? Travis and I were surprised to see so many of these styles while out touring homes – and OUR NEW HOUSE even has some things from this list! What do you think of these decor disasters? Let me know below!
Sofa beds SUCK!!! Say NO to Sofa Beds. Has anyone ever slept in a sofa bed and didn’t hate it?
I would love to watch this video but this PLOP sound is so **** annoying i just can’t
I love love a Tuscan kitchen, especially a lighter crème colored Tuscan kitchen 😍 Dreamy 😍
By cabin decor moose lampshades and overly rustic cheap cabin decor with log everything
I love tuscan kitchens ❤️
I love terazzo
I love glass blocks. That’s pretty much it
Thank You! I have always, and WILL always HATE word "art", it is annoying to look at! I agree with all your choices in this video, well done. I really dislike "trends", to be honest.
Why do we constantly need to do what’s "in"??? That’s the whole problem we worry about others approval way too much! You’re never going to please everyone and, I’m sorry, but she said use wallpaper instead of real wood???? I know wallpaper is back, but come on, just a few years ago "they" said no more paper EVER!!! I have decided to do what I love in my house. I have signs and tons of color. Some wood panels under chair rail and I love every outdated bit of it. Also she said to get an air mattress instead of a futon??? Do you know how many air mattresses our family with 4 kids have popped in the last decade??? Lol. Girl stop.
Great content!
