I just subscribed- am building a new house and love traditional style. I like your style! Hey, may I add that I am sick of words in decor: pillows, paintings, walls, dishes, etc. Let a mug be a mug- must it be blessed? Let signs direct you to your spot- must it tell of our love of coffee? You get my point. Carry on!
I renovated my kitten from fake yellow oak,a red brick wall with built ins, and cheap laminate counters with checkerboard tile to white marble, white glass stovetop that blends in seamlessly, dark wood floors, matte black appliances and hardware with some gold accents and painted the brick with white wash.
I love to accent the white with aqua accessories in case I ever want to change the accent color.
Roving knitted blankets because you can’t wash those either and they are insanely expensive to make or buy and just as bad a furry pillows. Great for staging not not pratical for use. In my house everything has to have praticality and durability. I have pets and small humans.
I love that for me I love that for you So sweet
I subscribed! Hi, enjoy your videos and content 👍
New subscriber – love and agree on your comments. I am closer to retirement age and have seen trends and fads come and go. I am learning to embrace classic with my own collections of things that I have acquired and love rather than staged looking backwards books, wooden beads or other things that easily date a home to a specific decade. You are kind in your approach rather than being too judgey.
All that grey in a room reminds me of the days before Antidepressants 🥹
Garrett I love your channel. You have wonderful ideas and excellent taste. My own problem I have is that I love white kitchens but I so miss the originality of seeing something different. Everybody’s kitchens now look the same to me. It has become so overdone that it has lost its character. Just my opinion but I live for the return of seeing something different that makes me get excited. I currently have wood cabinets and even though they are beautiful wood I just keep waiting for something other than white to try something new.
I just found your channel and love it, already addicted. Love your idea and opinions, I so agree ! And I am so over the whole subway tile too.
I’m sure everyone says this…. those Facebook looking word “art” things. “Blessed”, “This is our happy place…..”. I think I figured out why they make me angry. Tackiness aside, it’s like a subliminal boast, directed at your visitors. “I’m so BLESSED….look at everything I have…..”. “All of this has been bestowed upon me by God, because clearly I’m a great person!”. I think those people should “GATHER….” around some of your videos.
I like white kitchens.
Garrett is there any imperfections in your life?! You are just chefs 💋 😊
lol the beads……..oh how I hate the beads!!!!
You are hysterical and I love your videos and I am subscribed! Agree with everything you said, but you forgot the dreaded "word" signs. So tired of seeing them everywhere, for every season. And those darn beads look like they would be sold in an adult bookstore.
I like white and shades of white, but I don’t like a white scheme with accents of red or yellow or black. They are too jarring. Any of the softer browns, tans, beiges or very pale blues and greens work well. There was a trend back in the early 80’s to have red lines accenting along kitchen drawers and benchtops. Horrible.
I hate wood floors colored to be multi-colored stains. The ugly floors that dominate the entire space. This is a newish trend in some new homes.
WOW…its like you got in my head! LOL
I agree with everything you said and yes I do have a white kitchen. I subscribed!!😄
Thing is these antique painters say that it was in awful condition when it literally just had a single scratch on it.
Yay, I realize this was a couple of months ago, but I agree with everyone on the open shelves. I am short, 5 feet, and there is no way I am going to get out a ladder to reach a mixing bowl! I do liberally use shelving that I can reach, its open but those are things I use. I don’t feel so alone now thank you.
I like subway tiles if you have a small kitchen. Horizontal lines make a kitchen look larger.
Love white kitchens. Classic
I absolutely love how you don’t waste time and get right into it ❤️
Nodded my head, repeatedly in agreement, about the open shelves near greasy splatter potential in the kitchen and the floating counter top-cabinets, needing a secure, grounded structure aesthetic, in the bathroom!
Hot faux furry pillows = gross!
As usual, spot on. However, I love shower curtains. I am not spending time cleaning glass doors and I know you love that for me ❤️
Kitchen talk again! I want white slab cabinets because the dirt shows so I can clean it off. Lol. I suppose light gray would work, but…gray.
I also hate floating counter tops and even worse, the floating toilets. I feel that anytime those will fall apart. Open showers, I experienced that in Europe back in 2007 and I hated it… everything gets wet, then after shower you need to dry all the mess outside the shower. Not sure how this trend got popular in the American continent.
I feel as though I have stumbled into a whole new world. I have JUST decided to undertake a MAJOR full home redecoration project. You are offering me advice and views I have never even imagined to entertain. Thank you.
My thought on wood beads is a different take. We are a family of ADHD, and sometimes it’s hard to give someone due attention in a conversation without a fidget. But most fidgets are tacky plastic toy contraptions that I just don’t want in my living room. Keep that in the kid space please! If I was in a sitting room having a chat with my husband or a friend and a strand of wood beads was there, boom, natural materials that are tactile with a little bit of movement but not like a bowl full of loose beads that are going to end up scattered everywhere. I don’t think it’s for everyone, but for me something like that fills a real need without looking like a kid room. I’m not going to play with someone else’s decor in their space, but looking for ways of meeting a fidget need in mine, and something like a wooden bead really works.
Just found your videos and totally subscribed! Love how real you are 🤍🤍🤍
Hello dear Garrett. I subscribed last week and am enjoying your insight and taste. You have a very large practical streak in your outlook (which I love). And OMG! The wooden beads! 🤣 I thought it was such an odd accent from the get go, but your statement about them, decor for the sake of decor, made me go hmmm…am I guilty of that? I will look at my home with that in mind and see if I can eliminate some tshotchkes. Much success to you Garrett. You won my heart with the drafts in the shower statement.
I refuse to do backward books.
Great coments! You are so clear and prepare to help people grow up stile!
all-grey designs are absolutely the worst. if you like it then okay, you do you. but imo it just looks so boring. i’m not against designs that look chill and mature (?) like i love black-and-white designs if done well. it’s just grey is just such a boring colour. there is no life in it. it feels so unwelcoming.
Can you recommend the best brand of fake wooden floor?? Thank you
Garrett I am so here for everything you have to say. Glad I found your channel 😃
I like a colorful kitchen. I’m using peach, yellow/gold, Tera cotta and clear blue with white tile (yes tile) countertops.
I love my white Kitchen—after remodeling a previous white kitchen to non white— I realized it was not my style to have non white— white just feels cleaner and less cluttered.
Grey: not the colour part of the Wizard of Oz movie!
😆 I have floating furniture in all 3 bathrooms. I’ve had it for 10 years now with 2 kids. I absolutely love it.
I also hate white kitchens, but I love white laundry rooms.
Great video!
I subscribed a couple of weeks ago. I’m really enjoying your perspective.
A few things I’m SO over is, barn doors. Especially the rustic, wood with black iron metal. 15 years ago it was cool but now I’m sick of it. Also I’m so tired all the color used are lifeless, muted or greyed down colors. Let’s see some clean, fresh, colors. Something lively, yet still elegant.
I love my white kitchen it’s so easy to decorate the way I want.
I also have a floating vanity which I love, but it’s between two walls and the vanity mirrors can actually be opened out.
I also want to decorate with wooden beads (actually a rosary) as a way to incorporate something religious without being obvious (I’m catholic while my husband is agnostic).
Painting antiques should be criminal! Beautiful wood & workmanship should not be covered in ugly paint.
Hello Garrett! I have just subscribed, what are ore your thought on having mixed metalics???? I have collections of Antique copper, brass and silver is ok to display them in grouping together
You are spot on with your comments!
Hello, new subscriber here! Any recommendations for restoring antique furniture. I have one piece I got from my grandmother. It’s a beautiful dresser with dovetail joints. It’s still very good quality but the top code or lacquer is starting to chip off in some areas. Would love some recommendations. I live in a very small town so taking it to someone might not even be possible but i don’t know for sure. Plus, it’s an extremely heavy piece.
#1 Lesson: Today I learned that all furniture flippers don’t check the antique and/or artist value of the piece before painting it.🤯 #2 Pleasant surprise: I share your love of certain colors.🙂 #3 Relief: You detailed the fact that the grey floors are just not natural… enough…in most situations. 😁 Keep up the good work. 🙂
New subscriber. Would love to see you do a glamorous living room using second hand finds! Love your channel & energy!
I have a white kitchen
Your list is absolutely perfect!!! 😂. As soon as I heard the first point, I knew that your Lechic fam are my people! 😁. I agree with everything you said!! I have watched your kitchen videos. I need help! My beloved kitchen is slowly falling apart. It is mahogany with brown granite and cream travertine. Dated but classy. Would you please do some videos on selecting traditional flooring, countertops, and backsplashes that go with various kinds of cabinetry??!! Thank you!! 💜
Love my white kitchen! But we went darker and more interesting on the granite, so it’s not complete white all over
